Spring is in the air, the sun is shining – time to come out of hibernation, get off the sofa and get into shape:  Apps to make it easier No 1.

Spring is in the air, the sun is shining, and it’s finally time to come out of hibernation and start shaping up again.  So I thought I’d do a bit of digging around to see if I could find some apps to help get you motivated and make it all a bit more fun.

Unless you’re a natural gym bunny (in which case you probably haven’t spent the winter with your feet up on the sofa and a bowl of crisps/bar of chocolate anyway), the very idea of a fitness regime can be the one thing that’ll get you running a mile.  So first things first, just get moving again.

FitFu:  ’stay active anytime anywhere’

FitFu app to help you plan and monitor fitnees

FitFu www.fitfu.com is a great little app. Its mantra is ‘stay active anytime anywhere’.  Although it will do lots of useful things like help you plan, monitor and motivate your fitness, most important thing at this stage of the game is that it enables you to monitor your overall activity level and that of your friends.  So you know at a glance who’s slacking, and if it’s you, that’s a trigger to get up from your desk and stretch your legs – or if you’re chained to your desk, get a bit fidgety instead.

Just getting more active in your daily life is a really good place to start if you want to lose weight or get a bit fitter.  Obvious things like getting of the bus a stop early and walking, parking as far away as possible from the entrance to the supermarket, and walking up and down escalators and stairs can make a real difference, and FitFu can help you see the difference and spur you on.
